Listening to GOD

I have come to realize a critical component of this process (Dancing with God) requires listening when God is speaking.

In his book "The Heart of the Soul" - Gary Zukav describes intuition as God speaking to us between our thoughts. This has been validated by many other writers and philosophers.

The challenge then becomes knowing when and where our thoughts start and stop. How do you know when you are in the space between your thoughts?

It became very apparent to me today, as I was involved in a conversation, that it is very much like conversations we have with other people. Most people feel they need to express all of their thoughts on a particular subject, and many times will be upset if you interrupt them while they are expressing these thoughts. It requires skillful listening to know when that person has completed their expression of their thoughts, and is ready to receive your response or your thoughts on that subject. At times they may not care or want to hear your thoughts or ideas at all. They simply need to express all of their thoughts, feelings and emotions at that time without any input from you.

So how does this relate to the subject at hand? If we apply this to conversations, prayers, pleadings, or other forms of communication with God, we see that many times we try to tell God all the things we are dealing with, (as if he has no idea or understanding about our problems). We talk with great emotion, explaining in great detail our particular dilemma or problem, and sometimes we even get upset if God attempts to send us a message while we are trying to explain our problem to Him.

The new paradigm that is being offered in this course, requires awareness of what we are saying, how we are listening, and finally learning to listen to the messages between your thoughts. Being able to control your thoughts, ensures that there will be spaces to listen. It also requires that our prayers and invocations and requests to God are not specifically for him to fix our problems, but to guide us to action that will enable us to accomplish that ourselves. This takes training and practice, and may require a teacher to assist in expediting your ability to do this effectively.
