Recently I was dealing with a very stressful series of days. I was completely wired and my ability to cope began to get very limited. During my meditation, I was directed to the answer to my dilemma.
Rest and release - Even in the Bible we are told to rest on the seventh day. The reason for this is not to control you actions, God doesn't care if you do it or not. The reason is for you, so that you can unwind and release the stress, frustration and mental garbage that has accumulated in your mind and body.
This is where the Yogi's learned how to use Divine energy rather than mental and physical energy. YOUR Mind and Body are limited in their power with our the connection to the Divine source. Very often we try to do more than we can in the time we have. This causes mental and physical exhaustion.
Much like any energy source, we require recharging, particularly when we try to use our own power. For example a laptop computer will run for several hours on battery power, but eventually will stop working unless you plug it in to the outlet and use the a/c adapter to recharge it. Your body works in a similar way.
So if stress is overwhelming your life, it is a signal that you are using the wrong power supply.
Also you need to take time out for yourself to enjoy life and the world we live in.
I took a day off and did only those things that made me happy. It was very profound. My energy levels went up, I was at peace and all of the "Stuff" was stressing about, became less stressful. It truly renewed my spirit. The release of toxic energy and mental garbage was very beneficial.
here is an example for a previous post -
Think of Aladdin rubbing a magic lamp, except that his lamp takes into account his state of mind as he rubs. Let's say he's feeling irritable and sorry for himself. What he calls forth will automatically incorporate these elements. Maybe he feverishly chants "Ferrari, Ferrari, Ferrari," but his lamp spits out a sleek, swift, ill-tempered camel.
Since we humans are always using our magic lamps (consciously or not), we benefit from tactics that let us do so for the good of all. Sages have proposed various approaches. For example, ninth century Indian mystic Shantideva understood the cause and effect of desires, and therefore counseled selflessness:
All the joy the world contains has come through wishing happiness for others. All the misery the world contains has come through wanting pleasure for oneself.
