.
I have become acutely aware of how powerful thoughts are and the inability of most people to control their own mind. So I have decided to share some of what I have discovered about the mind, the brain and the power of thoughts.
For those of you who do not know me, I dealt with severe depression for a long time. It took me to the brink of suicide, ended a relationship and I was fired from several jobs. In desperation I searched for answers, even though I was blinded by my own internal demons and pain.
Most of the people I asked recommended using drugs, which I tried, but found made me feel worse. Finally I found a small book that gave me the answer I was looking for. It is based on the Power of Now and controlling your mind. In one weekend I learned how to get control of my mind, and stop it from controlling me. The result was I have not been controlled by depression or any other internal or external influence since.
Do I still feel sad, or lonely at times? Absolutely! But also feel happy, joyful, silly and laugh a lot. One feeling isn't better or worse, I can feel whatever is appropriate at the time, honor those feelings and go on.
The trap is when the feelings begin to generate thoughts, and the mind feeds them and soon thoughts generate more feelings, and the cycle of creating thoughts and feelings about the situation soon takes over your your entire being.
In this state you have no control over the mind, you are totally at the mercy of your thoughts and feelings with no way to change them. This results in an ever downward spiraling into the depths of extremely painful experiences.
Not everyone is affected in this way by their mind or their thoughts, but I have found that most people are unable to control their minds or their thoughts.
I began this post in an attempt to share how your mind is affected by your thoughts.
The amazing thing is that the thoughts you have can prevent you from even understanding this principle. As your beliefs, and your paradigms can deeply affect what you think an dhow you use your mind.
Therefore you are the only one who can change your mind, your beliefs, your thoughts, and your paradigms.
In essence the mind is the engine that runs all of these factors. You have to choose to change any and all of these by using your mind. If you do not have control of your mind, which most people do not, you will be open and vulnerable to any and all influences from other people, marketing, teachings that are based on other peoples beliefs and paradigms.
Here is what I have found that works best. When you find your mind dwelling on a certain subject or thought, you have to consciously bring your thoughts and your mind into the current moment. This is accomplished by stating to your mind Be Right Here Right Now,and keep doing that until you have control of your mind. This is so that your thoughts attention and consciousness are all focused on this moment right now. You may have to do this over and over until you are able to maintain your consciousness in the present moment.
